RECENT WORK

Alexandra Cuerdo is an award-winning writer and director, recently named one of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women In the World by the Filipina Women’s Network. Her feature directorial debut ULAM: Main Dish is the first Filipino food documentary to achieve worldwide distribution, on Hulu. She is the recipient of the 2019 VSCO Voices Artist Grant. She has spoken at Google, Spotify, Yale, Anheuser-Busch and at the 2019 Teen Vogue Summit about her career as an openly queer, female Asian director. 

 

Her work has been featured in the New York Times, the LA Times, BuzzFeed, Vogue, New York Magazine, Eater and more. The Pulitzer Prize-winning critic Jonathan Gold called Alexandra’s film a “love letter” to Filipino food, and Stark Insider has crowned ULAM with “Four Stars — Smash- ing.” Recently, she co-wrote AMBOY: Recipes From the Filipino-American Dream with Eggslut chef Alvin Cailan for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.


In the digital space, Alexandra’s videos for BuzzFeed lifestyle brands As/Is and Tasty have achieved over 250 million views and over 2 million shares on Facebook. She has continued working with fashion brands, as well as directing music videos.
